Just realized out that Beyonce was just 21 when she made her “Crazy in love” video. I’m 21…What have I done with my life?

So, in the rare occasions I step out of my home, strangers (men) offer to help me out (swiping their metrocard for me when I obviously didn’t ask or directing me to keys for the public bathroom) and as soon as I say, “thank you,” almost always, they reply with, “anything for a pretty girl like you.” …Okay. Gee, thanks for the compliment but wtf is that? What if you didn’t think I was pretty? Would you be hesitant to help me? See, that’s what I dislike about these kinds of men-always eager to help those that they find attractive, maybe looking forward to receiving the smallest of attention, who knows? I just want to yell, “fuck you!” but alas, here I am ranting on my blog. Forever a coward.
This is a favorite line of a bigot. If it’s racism that is being discussed, the line will be “You think anyone who disagrees with you is a racist.” You can pretty much fill in the blank with any oppressed group or issue.
This is one of those magical catch all phrases. It achieves several things…
We’re so afraid of what people might think of us that we refuse to begin a conversation about racism or sexism. When a topic of substance comes up, many of my friends feel uneasy because we are so cautious of who our words might offend. So, we decide to move on and talk about something else-something lighter and superficial. Why are we so afraid of simply talking? Of simply discussing important matters regarding racism and sexism? Are we so proud of being name called that we won’t even initiate a conversation?
Chef John from foodwishes.com is so funny! Watch his recipe vids on youtube.
”It’s crazy, man. You people are just bleeding and bleeding and you’re not dying. That’s called strength, mothafucka.”
